Half Term Feb 11-20th

HALF TERM, FEBRUARY 11 – 19

Have fun over half term with these cool activities

Work has been continuing on Are We Nearly Here Yet. We will actually be Nearly Here Yet from the end of Summer half term, Sunday June 4th – a series of six Zoom sessions at around Sunday breakfast time till July 9th

The Pocket Science Funfair will kick off Summer half term on the previous weekend at the Elderflower Fields Festival

Genius Brighton is back at the i360 in Brighton next Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday, 13th-15th, for half term. This time not only the exciting coding workshops in the spectacular Attenborough Room, but also upstairs you can try the insanely thrilling WALK 360 open-air walk on TOP of the i360 at 138 metres up! That’s only at 12pm on Mon/Tues/Wed, so our 0930-1130 workshop finishes in time for you to step upstairs to that.

Coding and Electronics is with Minecraft and Python; 2 hour workshops. If you’ve been before, you’ll know how popular and fun these are. This time Andrew has added an introduction to electronics, and all new coding exercises to the workshop. Integrate real-world electronics with Minecraft!

Plus Coding For Girls, welcoming girls, non-binary and gender variant young people to come and get into coding and electronics. We all know that there’s still a gender gap in computer science. In this workshop you’ll do all the lovely electronics and Minecraft coding, but you’ll also learn about the importance of closing the gender gap, and maybe also about some important female computer scientists in recent history.

Slimebusters – but not just any old slime: no, proper, beautiful, fancy, perfumed slime, with dragon topping, snowflakes and gummy bears! That’s for starters, then follows the science of slime, including how to rescue hardened slime. All useful stuff.

Stunning Snowflakes

Investigate the amazing science of snowflakes and all things icy. Children will make simple circuits to light up a snowy scene and do a bit of frosty magic (which is actually science, but don’t tell them!).

All these in the beautiful surroundings of Stanmer Park; Beautiful whether sunny or snowy (but not slimy)
